The Great Outdoors

Golf: Osprey Valley, Erin Heights and CalErin

Osprey Valley (now TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley) in Caledon, Ontario, to be one of the premier and best-value public golf destinations in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The facility features three distinct 18-hole courses—the North, Hoot, and Heathlands. In 2025 and 2026 it has hosted the Canadian Open.

Smaller, very local 9-hole courses include, Erin Heights, and CalErin.

Skiing: Hockley Valley (public ski hill)

30 minutes away, the Hockley Valley Resort is right beside Adomo Estates Winery. If you don’t fancy skiing, you can always try out the spa, restaurants at the resort - so there really is something for everyone!

Caledon Ski Club (private members club, pictured above) is only 8 minutes from WMK and so allows member’s guests if referred! Set in 500 acres of beautiful countryside, with 25 slopes, with 6 all-Quad chairlifts & 2 magic carpets, plus 8KM of snowshoe trails and a snowboard park.

Fishing - Guelph, Belwood and Island Lake.

Guelph Lake, a 240-hectare reservoir located on the Grand River offers excellent fishing for northern pike, smallmouth and largemouth bass, black crappie, and yellow perch.

Belwood Lake, upstream of Shand Dam is a superb brown trout fishery that also supports pike, perch, walleye and bullhead. Belwood Country Market has the best butter tarts you’ve ever had.

Hiking: Bruce, Caledon, Elora Cateract and more

One or Elsa’s best things to do is hike, so we have explored many of the trails in the area and there are LOTS! When you come to share we can share some of the favourites.

A few others to check out: Forks of the Credit Provincial Park, Silvercreek Conservation Area and the Rockwood Conservation Area.

Biking:

Erin, Ontario offers a great mix of beginner and moderate biking trails, ranging from scenic rail trails to forested mountain bike singletrack.

Some nearby favourites to us are: Elora Cataract Trailway: Caledon Cycling Club, Forks of the Credit Provincial Park. Read about Friday Brewery Getaways here.

Horses: Showjumping @ Angelstones

Events are often hosted at Caledon Equestrian Park in Palgrave, 35 minutes from us. It is widely praised for its world-class show jumping, free admission, and vibrant, upscale venue amenities
